Poptropica began selling products via the internet in March 2009, starting with T-shirts through Zazzle. Poptropica also started selling wall prints with various Poptropica characters a few days later through Larger Than Life prints.
On May 30, 2009, Poptropica began selling "Poptropica credits" online. Credits are used in the game to "buy" special costumes and abilities on the store. However, players can also obtain credits through the completion of islands.
Sometime in August 2011 Poptropica started making and selling toys. These toys include plush toys, plastic figures, and a Poptropica Inflatable Blimp. These toys are only available at Toys "R" Us. Each toy comes with a secret code to unlock special features for you and your Poptropican. Also on SkinIt.com you can buy Poptropica skins for electronic devices. On September 24, 2011, Poptropica started coming out with an official guide you can only buy on Amazon. Sometime throughout the month, if you buy it you can participate in scavenger hunts throughout the book and win cool prizes for your Poptropican. Books are often advertised on the island the book is based on.
In November 2020, another wave of Poptropica merch was released on the Zazzle store website. The new merch included shirts, hoodies, socks, stickers, sunglasses, hats and more. The Poptropica Creators announced the release of new merch in a post on the Poptropica Blog in October of 2020. The post also asked readers to suggest ideas for designs for the upcoming merch.
